This site aims to introduce the different styles of Thai music with short descriptions and a collection of examples of each style of music. It is mostly based on a youtube video player that I made to help me study Thai songs. The translations are powered by Thai2englsih.com unless otherwise stated.
A note on the translation
The Thai script posses a particular challenge for machine translation because generally there are no spaces between the written words. I believe that by knowing a little bit about the how and why of this, the limitations of any computer translated Thai can be better understood and minimized. If you have ever tried to translate a Thai sentence using google translate you know that it has little use besides producing comically nonsensical results(it is useful for translating single words and for listening to the text read out loud). Thai2english works much better because it is designed specifically for Thai. It uses its own specialized Thai to English dictionary and takes a different approach to translation that is more suitable to the Thai language. However, getting a computer to recognize where the spaces should be in a Thai sentence remains an unsolved issue.
