Pua Chiwit เพื่อชีวิต (Songs for life) - Combines Western style rock music with traditional forms of Thai music and stories about the struggles of everyday life. Created during Thailand's politically turbulent 1970s, it was inspired by 1960s and 70s Western protest music. The band most responsible for pioneering this style of music was Caravan. They became famous and were forced to flee into the jungle when their songs were banned by the military controlled government. Now a major part of the music industry, pua chiwit has become less politically charged and tends to center more around themes on love, life, and inspiration.wiki
